Fox Sports Collaboration with Google Cloud Aims to Add Generative AI Technologies by Using Vertex AI Vision

According to the story by Variety, the sports programmer Fox Sports is entering a collaboration with none other than Google Cloud for the company to use its generative AI technologies. So far, Fox Sports noted that the particular system they would use is called the Vertex AI Vision.

The Vertex AI Vision by Google Cloud has the ability to search footage from over 1.9 million videos and easily create content close to real-time. This can then be used for TV, social media, and even other marketing efforts.

Brad Zager, Fox Sports' president of production/operations as well as executive producer, said that the addition of Google Cloud allowed the company to be able to utilize video search along with other abilities.

Fox Sports Will be Able to Automate Many Processes and Avoid Manually Searching for Clips

The different abilities that Fox Sports will be getting include its advanced machine learning as well as artificial intelligence in order for them to automate most of the manual processes that are required when it comes to sports media.

Two critical aspects were highlighted with regards to which parts of the business really needed automation including the searching of video content as well as the tagging of videos. The president of production/operations also highlighted how they plan to be able to find relevant content much faster, which is important when it comes to live sports.

The two parties reportedly released an announcement that they would expand their collaboration when it comes to building the Intelligence Asset Service, or IAS, of Fox Sports, which was initially announced in 2020.

IAS is Aimed to Provide Video Search and Machine-Learning Capabilities

IAS reportedly uses the video search and machine-learning capabilities of Google Cloud in order to help when it comes to automating managing the sports networks' media assets. It was also highlighted that IAS let Fox Sports get additional value from its content library.

Aside from that, the IAS also aims to reduce the needed reliance on paper logs as well as producers needing to place manual effort into looking through video archives. Fox Sports has reportedly added IAS to all its major sports broadcasts in 2022.
