Instagram Introduces New Sticker Creation Feature

Instagram is reportedly in the process of testing a new sticker creation feature that will enable users to craft personalized stickers using their own photos or those of other users.

Engadget reported that these stickers can be seamlessly incorporated into Reels or Stories. Unlike Meta's AI-generated stickers, this tool simplifies the process by isolating the subject of a photo and removing the background, resulting in a standalone sticker that can be overlaid on various content.

Unlike recent developments on the AI-generated stickers by Meta, which rely on prompts, Instagram's sticker creation feature takes a more straightforward approach. It automatically identifies the subject of a photo and removes the background, resulting in a free-floating sticker.

This sticker can then be added to various types of content, enhancing creativity and allowing users to express themselves more uniquely within the platform.

While the specifics of the feature are still under testing, Instagram's move to enable users to create their own stickers can provide a more fun experience on the platform.

It aligns with the broader trend in social media towards giving users more creative control over their content and enhancing the visual appeal of their posts.

Instagram Is Keeping Users Engaged, Promoting Creativity

During a video shared on his broadcast channel, Adam Mosseri concisely demonstrated the sticker creation feature's functionality. This feature will allow users to create custom stickers from their own photos or potentially from images they come across on Instagram.

It is a tool designed to enhance the creative aspect of Instagram Stories and Reels. By enabling users to turn their photos into stickers, it encourages them to personalize their content and add unique elements to their Stories and Reels.

Along with the video demonstration, Mosseri also said in the broadcast that they are "excited to see people get creative with this, lmk (let me know) what you think!"

This proves that the new feature is part of Instagram's ongoing efforts to keep users engaged and promote creativity within the platform. The feature is still in its testing phase and is not yet available to all users, so its full scope and appearance will become clearer as it develops.

Similarly, Instagram has recently initiated testing of another feature, a polling tool designed to appear in the comments section beneath feed posts.

The introduction of this new feature on Instagram, initially discovered by some observant users, was later officially acknowledged by Mosseri via his Instagram Channel. ZDNet reported that Mosseri described it as a "small test," indicating that Instagram is taking a cautious approach to its rollout.

Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg also weighed in on the new feature through his personal Instagram channel. However, he already announced that this feature will be "rolling out to everyone soon," hinting at Instagram's intentions to make this feature widely available.
