LinkedIn enters 2024 by announcing three new job-searching features on Wednesday: "Job Collections," "Preferences Page," and an "I'm interested" button. Features that the job-hunting application claims to allow users to discover job opportunities they were previously unaware of, as reported by ZDNet.

LinkedIn states that these newest features come at a critical time of the year. As per a recent LinkedIn poll, 85% of professionals said they are eager to broaden their views and are considering changing jobs in 2024.

The three new features are reportedly headlined by "Job Collections," which supposedly provides employment chances for various businesses and sectors that users might not be familiar with. It arranges pertinent job openings into groupings or categories, such as sustainability, startups, generous parental leave, non-profits, and remote employment.

LinkedIn's mobile applications on iOS and Android and its website will include "Job Collections" at the top of the Jobs page.

The second feature, "Preferences Page," will reportedly allow users to adjust their preferred location types, such as in-person or remote employment, as well as their minimum desired remuneration and job notifications. This new feature may be accessed via the site menu on the left-hand side or at the top of the Jobs tab on mobile devices.

As per Tech Crunch, the third and last feature, the "I'm Interested" button, will let users discreetly indicate interest in a job without needing to apply. This new feature works even if the firm has no available positions, as recruiters may review your profile once you have expressed interest in seeking new hires.

While users may use the button as much as they intend to, expressing interest only for their top 10 to 20 firms is advised by LinkedIn.

LinkedIn in 2024

These new features prove to be an expected development of the job-searching platform, most especially when LinkedIn has already indicated last December 2023 that the company is looking to create change for the year 2024, towards "Conversational Based Marketing" and "Account Based Marketing," thus going beyond simple customization.

LinkedIn hinted at greater comprehension of user requirements and preferences and customization of LinkedIn interactions and content for particular target segments and highly customized communications and information.

LinkedIn and AI

Tech Crunch adds that the developments made today coincide with LinkedIn's launch of a new AI-powered LinkedIn Premium experience, which aims to assist users in rapidly determining whether a job posting suits them. In addition to teaching users more about the business and sector, the application may assist users in deciding how to position themselves for any job best.

LinkedIn proves to be honing in on job hunters who are looking to expand their career opportunities or those unsure about where to go next. Engadget states that this new AI-driven feature uses huge language models and generative AI to scan every job posting and classify it into groupings such as IT, pro sports, remote work, and top startups, possibly helping indecisive job-hunters, according to LinkedIn.
