There is a new program called Peer-to-Peer Login on Telegram that offers a massive perk for all: you can get a Telegram Premium subscription without needing to pay for it directly.

However, it asks users to opt into a program that would allow them to get it for free. This was recently discovered on the Android version of the app and is only available in specific locations.

In this new program, users would get a chance to enjoy a free Telegram Premium subscription by only joining, but there are now concerns regarding this.

AssembleDebug shared via an X post that Telegram has a new offer for its users under a program called Peer-to-Peer Login, which brings a free Telegram Premium subscription that is worth $5 per month.

Under its terms, the P2PL is offering users a free one-month Premium code in exchange for their phone numbers. Telegram would use this code to send as many as 150 text messages for their OTP (one-time password) authentication.

Telegram was said to have notified eligible customers to join the program, which would use their personal numbers for its OTP service.

The program was said to be only available for Android users, and only several unspecified locations are eligible to join it. Telegram notifies users if they are fit for the P2PL program.

Should You Join the P2PL Program on Telegram?

The tech analyst claimed that "the only good thing about it is that it's opt-in" and that people who are aware of "Privacy" would not join these kinds of programs.

AssembledDebug suggested that users read Telegram's Terms and Conditions to be more aware of the risks that this brings to them. Their phone numbers will be used to send the OTP codes to multiple unknown users, possibly worldwide.

Telegram and its Services

One of the most renowned features of Telegram is the availability of massive features on the service, alongside the easy-to-use and light messaging platform to connect with contacts or acquaintances. Recently, it offered a free-of-charge voice and video message transcription service, which expanded the accessibility of the messaging platform.

While Telegram rose to popularity as an alternative to Meta's Messenger and WhatsApp, claimed to be more secure than these platforms, it has experienced significant concerns over the years.

A security expert previously warned users about how Telegram exposes the IP addresses of users while on a call, sharing the vulnerability for the platform to fix and users to be wary of.

Telegram has evolved from humble beginnings to now offering massive services like accessible Mini Apps built using JavaScript flexible interfaces and more on the platform.

However, Premium is now the game on Telegram as it offers significant improvements from the Free experience, which is now offered without a charge under the P2PL program, but it is not recommended for users.
