The healthcare industry faced unprecedented challenges and changes during the global pandemic. It exposed the urgent need for innovative solutions to meet the demands of patient care and medical management.

Responding to the need for robust systems is David Vakhtangishvili, an entrepreneur and health technology expert. He leveraged his experience to establish new healthcare systems designed to meet the demands of the modern world.

From being chief financial officer (CFO), chief information/innovation officer (CIO), and chief risk officer (CRO) for Georgian Healthcare Group to founding his own health technology company, Andromeda Health Corp, Vakhtangishvili's experience built integrated healthcare systems that deliver advanced patient solutions.

Projects Rooted on Practical Innovation

Vakhtangishvili's approach to developing healthcare systems understands patients' practical challenges. He recognized that patients often spend excessive time searching for providers, deciphering billing, and dealing with insurance. To address this, during his tenure at Georgian Health Group, Vakhtangishvili spearheaded the development of the complete fledged healthcare information management system (HIMS) that, among other functionalities and modules, included the electronic health records (EHR) or the electronic medical records (EMR), in the first place. This undertaking resulted in the most extensive software implementation in the country's history, involving over 12,000 users.

"The largest sector of the economy is inefficient, and our responsibility as healthcare technology leaders is to improve it," Vakhtangishvili mentions.

Under his leadership, Georgian Health Group also built the country's most extensive, fully consolidated data warehouse, involving 3.2 million unique customers' personal and transaction records.

An Entrepreneurial Mindset in Action

Aside from his CIO, CFO, and CRO experience, Vakhtangishvili's educational background also honed his business and leadership expertise—which includes a diploma in the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, a Bachelor of Business Administration from ESM Business School, and a certificate in AI, Implications for Business Strategy from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Applying all these, Vakhtangishvili founded his company, Andromeda Health Corp. This is a fully integrated healthcare ecosystem. Using artificial intelligence (AI), Vakhtangishvili aims to connect all healthcare components—doctors, clinics/hospitals/hospital systems, payers, labs, pharmacies, and drug stores—into one patient-centric digital super app for B2C services and a comprehensive business platform for B2B interoperability.

Vakhtangishvili wants a seamless patient journey through improving customer service experience, insurance and billing automation, and other business support processes. These remove bureaucratic barriers and quicken processes such as eligibility checks, pre-authorizations, visit scheduling, triage, admissions, billing, and data interchange.

"Our team believes that we can profoundly change the healthcare ecosystem with the right technologies, proper business models, and operational excellence," Vakhtangishvili says.

A Cautious Take on Innovation

Though technologies have changed over the years, one thing remains unchanged: the development of healthcare technologies requires the human touch.

"Despite technological advancement, we must remember that healthcare is, at its core, a profoundly human endeavor," Vakhtangishvili says. "Our products must be both cutting-edge and affable, empowering the people they serve."

Vakhtangishvili ensures that Andromeda Health Corp adheres to the highest standards of safety and ethics. He mentions, "Only with precise testing, transparency, and clear ethical guidelines can we truly maximize these technologies to improve our healthcare."
