After facing massive backlash from the current Brazilian government, Elon Musk is now receiving warm praises and thanks from ex-Brazil president Jair Bolsonaro supporters at a weekend rally. The recent praises were given by Bolsonaro's supporters, best known for his far-right ideals, particularly as Musk refuses to ban certain accounts on X that spread fake news.

In light of the recent issues against Musk versus the current Brazilian government, X still does not comply with the high court justice's order for account removals.

"Brazil Thanks Elon Musk," read one of the slogans in Sunday's recent rally from supporters of the far-right ex-president, Jair Bolsonaro, around the vicinity of the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, reports AFP. This was because the ex-president supporters also praised Musk's decision to promote his 'free speech absolutist' ideals over X.

This praise was because Musk is not adhering to the order from the Brazilian Supreme Court, which asked him and X to ban the accounts spreading fake news on the platform.

It also stems from Musk's late 2022 criticism of Justice Alexandre de Moraes for 'suppressing' free speech in the country, going so far as to say that he violated Brazil's constitution.

X, Elon Musk Still Would Not Ban Fake News Accounts

Despite mounting pressure from Brazil's government, X and Musk have not yet banned any social media accounts and still refuse to do so. Moreover, Musk previously suggested on X that Brazilian users may use VPNs (virtual private networks) to bypass a possible shutdown of social media platforms.

With Musk's dissent, Brazil is now targeting the executive and his platform regarding criminal conspiracy, incitement, and obstruction of the law.

Elon Musk, X, and Brazil

Recently, massive changes on X were effected by the platform and its management, and the main focus of this is the significant removal of bot accounts on social media. However, Musk and the company previously warned human users that there may be changes to their follower counts once this takes effect, with the platform looking to purge bots that may bring spam, fake news, and more.

Earlier this April, the company also faced a massive investigation in Brazil for the many fake news accounts that are rampant on social media, ordering X to block the said accounts. This came directly from Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes, with Musk known for defying the said order and saying these were 'unlawful.'

The massive dissent from Elon Musk to Brazil's Supreme Court has shown that X would remain to offer all users a chance to express themselves online. The billionaire is widely regarded as a 'free speech absolutist.'

From this month's massive global backlash against Musk, the executive is now getting support for his decision to keep the fake news accounts, but from supporters of Bolsonaro who are still backing the ex-president's beliefs.
