Bethesda is set to release a new update for Starfield on Xbox Series X, addressing one of the game's most discussed limitations: the 30-frames-per-second cap.

Starting May 15, players can experience the game at a smoother 60fps, making the gameplay more fluid. Other features are expected to follow in the next two weeks.

Starfield Welcomes New Display Customization Options

Xbox Series X Players Can Soon Play Starfield at 60fps: What Other Improvements are Coming?

(Photo : Bethesda) You won't endure playing Starfield at 30fps anymore since the 60fps update will come in the next two weeks, according to Bethesda, along with other in-game features.

With this update, players can look forward to several new display settings that enhance visual and performance quality.

According to The Verge, gamers can choose between prioritizing high resolution, which maintains rich detail in special effects, lighting, and crowded scenes, or opting for enhanced frame rate performance. The latter mode reduces the internal resolution and detail to achieve higher fps rates.

If you badly need to achieve 60fps or higher gaming, you need to set this performance setting, as per Bethesda's recommendation.

Variable Refresh Rate Support

Bethesda suggests using a variable refresh rate (VRR) display capable of 120Hz for the optimal experience for those with cutting-edge setups. This setup allows players to select from multiple framerate options, including 30, 40, 60, and even an uncapped frame rate, providing flexibility according to the display capabilities and personal preferences. However, players without VRR displays should be prepared for potential screen tearing but can still enjoy the high frame rate benefits.

Customization Seems Endless in Starfield

The May 15th update is not just about visual enhancements; it also introduces practical gameplay improvements. These include more detailed surface maps for easier navigation and exploration, new ship customization tools, and the convenient addition of accessing ship cargo directly from the player's inventory menu.

As The Sun reports, you can soon decorate the interior of ships to make them fit your preferred design. Somehow, this is for aesthetics you haven't done before in the game.

Moreover, the update brings new settings that allow players to adjust the difficulty levels for various aspects of the game, such as ground and ship combat, tailoring the challenge to each player's preference.

Beta Testing on Steam

The update is available for beta testing on PC via Steam, ensuring that all enhancements work smoothly before the official release on the Xbox Series X|S platforms.

Whatever feedback the gamers provide during the beta testing will serve as Bethesda's basis for improving the game and determining what specific modes or parts should be included or excluded in the future.

The gaming studio has exciting plans for Starfield, including the anticipated Shattered Space expansion, a new land vehicle, and official mod support. More details about these upcoming features are expected to be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th.
