When Stephanie Emmons first launched Trevor's Place, she did so driven by her own personal journey as a parent, navigating her son's Lissencephaly, a rare brain cell migration disorder. In building her therapy center while also working as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), she quickly ran into an all-too-familiar problem, where the technology that was supposed to make the work easier consistently fell short.
"I started working 12 years ago, and back then, data was taken by pencil and paper. The process was inefficient," Emmons recalls. "Eventually, there was an influx of management software, but as I used it, I always found some errors. No matter what, something was always missing."

She encountered systems that excelled at data collection but failed at relaying information to families. Some managed schedules but couldn't handle reporting. But most importantly, the software carried high prices, which more often than not, didn't perform to its money's worth. "If you're going to invest that much money, you want the full package," she says. "Instead, we were still piecing things together with spreadsheets. It just didn't make sense."
These makeshift alternatives also increased the risk for potential data breaches and HIPAA compliance. "As a business owner with a therapy practice, you have to be thinking about that all the time," she says. "One wrong button, and the computer could be breached. That brings grave consequences in the medical world."
Emmons recognized the void of a proper management platform, and it was this frustration that sparked Spectrum Solutions Software (S Cubed), an all-in-one practice management and data collection system designed to streamline the very challenges she faced daily. Despite developing the platform for her practice, she quickly learned that it could be an industry-wide need. "Very early on, I knew this wasn't just for us," she explains. "If other practices could use this system, they can save time, improve communication with families, and ultimately help their clients make better progress."
At its core, S Cubed is built to replace fragmentation with integration. From intake to treatment plans, scheduling, billing, assessments, and telehealth, everything lives in one platform. Families communicate with providers through a guardian portal, clinicians track behavior data and session notes in real-time, and administrators can generate reports tailored to insurance requirements. "We don't want practitioners worrying about paperwork," Emmons emphasizes. "We want them focused on kids and families."
That philosophy reflects not only her professional expertise but also her perspective as a parent with her son, Trevor, who inspired the creation of Trevor's Place and continues to shape how she approaches her work. "For 20 years, communication with therapists was often a quick drop-off conversation or a rushed update. The guardian portal changes that. Parents can see what's happening in real time, make requests, and actually feel part of the process. I wish I had that when Trevor was younger," Emmons explains.
The impact of S Cubed is not independent, as it recently launched a telehealth feature and is onboarding a major assessment tool to further expand its clinical capabilities. Next year, Emmons expects artificial intelligence to play a larger role, automating evaluations, generating comprehensive reports, and freeing practitioners from time-draining paperwork.
"It's about evolving with the needs of families and providers," Emmons says. "We want to take information from doctors, psychologists, and our own assessments, and turn it into clear, actionable reports. That's what pushes the field forward with better data, better communication, and ultimately, better outcomes."
