There's really nothing quite as nice-sounding as the classic song from the 1964 Disney movie Mary Poppins.

You just can't help but smile when you hear Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke's cheerful vocals for the song "Supercal-ifragilisticexpialidocious." The word is nothing but nonsense, but the movie's partially animated sequence is just a delight to watch.

But forget all of that. Forget everything you know about Mary Poppins, Disney and all that's good in the world, really. Someone made a death metal version of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," and it is the most horrifying thing you will see on the Internet today.

YouTube user Andy Rehfeldt uploaded the cover on Monday, and it has since gone viral, garnering more than 700,000 views at the time of this writing. Sera Hatchett from the Spokane, Wash.-based metal band Mercy Brown provides the blood-curdling vocals for Mary. As an aside, doesn't she just have the best metal name ever? Thomas Hinds gives Bert's vocals a metal makeover. All of this plays over the original scene from the movie. How nice.

Perhaps this cover was inspired by pop diva Lady Gaga getting a ton of accolades for her surprisingly amazing performance of songs from The Sound of Music during last Sunday night's Oscars? One thing is for sure: Clearly, Andrews is having a moment.

So yes, watching this two-minute clip will probably ruin your childhood, but it is also a hilariously entertaining good time. Who knew Mary and Bert had so much edge? Hatchett even manages to sing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" backwards, as Mary does in the song, which couldn't have been easy. Rock on.
