Some owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the U.S. are in for a treat. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update has just been released for the Sprint Galaxy Note 4.

Sprint has begun rolling out the newest version of Android's operating system to Galaxy Note 4 owners. The rollout began today, and while some Sprint customers already have the update on their devices, others should receive it very soon. Sprint generally staggers its OS update rollouts, so if you're a Sprint customer with a Galaxy Note 4 that hasn't yet had the update pushed to your device, be patient as it should be coming any time now.

As for the other carriers, no new news has emerged as to when the update will be pushed to Galaxy Note 4 owners. Verizon and AT&T have been silent on the issue, while T-Mobile recently confirmed a Galaxy Note 4 Android Lollipop 5.0 update, but it could be a while before customers see it on their devices. T-Mobile announced that the update for the Note 4 is currently in "Manufacturer Development," elaborating: "T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update." In plain speak, that means the update is definitely coming, but no time frame has been announced.

On the international front, the update has already been released in Poland, Germany and South Korea. French and Canadian carriers have also confirmed the update is coming soon.

Interestingly, each of Samsung's flagship smartphones and phablets to first receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update has done so from a different carrier. Verizon was the first to roll out the update for owners of the Galaxy S5, while T-Mobile just pushed the update to Galaxy Note 3 owners. With Sprint now leading the pack on the Note 4, AT&T remains the only U.S. carrier not having rolled out an Android 5.0 Lollipop to any of its Samsung smartphones.
