Mothers and daughters form bonds just from simply being connected at birth. But what if a mother and daughter, pregnant at the same time, give birth within just one hour of each other? That's definitely a bonding experience that they and their children will not forget.

When Angela Patram and Teranisha Billups, her daughter, found out they were both pregnant, they expected that they will be delivering their babies within weeks of each other. In late February however, they both gave birth on the same day and within the same hour too at the Tampa General Hospital.

Patram was in the hospital Feb. 19 as she was scheduled to be induced on that day. Billups was not due two weeks later on Mar. 6 but went into labor the night before her mother was supposed to be induced. As such, the two ended up going into labor at the same time in rooms beside each other.

Rayna Simone Patram was born at 6:29 p.m. Feb. 19. She is Patram's fifth child. Billups was her eldest child, who gave birth to her own first child 34 minutes later via caesarean section. They named the baby Jerry Michaud, Jr.

"I've never seen a [mother] and daughter deliver on the same day. And this is as close as you could get," said Dr. Atef Zakhary from Tampa General. Zakhary was shocked at the incident despite being in the field for 29 years and having seen about 14,000 deliveries already.

Patram said giving birth on the same day as her daughter was a blessing. Billups called Rayna Simone and Jerry special babies, adding the two will be celebrating birthdays for the rest of their lives together.

"They'll be very close," she said.

Billups also shared that they have heard more than a handful of references made to Father of the Bride 2 about what happened to them. The 1995 movie starring Steve Martin featured pregnancies involving a mom and a daughter.

This isn't the first time that a mother and a daughter have given birth on the same day but it is the first that came so close within each other. But aside from events weirdly lining up together, the deliveries were safely carried out. Both Rayna Simone and Jerry are in the pink of health, based on their latest checkup at the Tampa General Hospital.
