What makes a great award show? Some say it's the battle of the stars for the coveted title and trophy while others say it's the performances and guest appearances throughout the show that makes the difference. But when you really think about it, the success of an award show comes down to a great host.

With only six months left to the countdown, everyone is on edge to find out who will host this year's Emmy Awards. Now everyone can breathe a sigh of relief as the announcement has been made, and this year's host will definitely leave us in stitches.

The former SNL performer and current star of Fox's comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg has been announced to host September's Emmy Awards show that will once again be held in the esteemed Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

"It's wonderfully fitting that we have Andy Samberg, an Emmy Award winner himself, as our host for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. Andy has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera. His humor, insights and charisma will be an exciting addition to our annual celebration of television's best and brightest," said Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, Bruce Rosenblum.

Andy co-wrote the lyrics for a Saturday Night Live music video with Justin Timberlake entitled Dick in a Box. The satirical video became an online viral hit as well as being a watched episode garnering him an Emmy in 2007.

This caught the attention of Fox TV Group Chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden.

"The moment the Emmy Awards' host was brought up, we said it had to be Andy. He is fearless, hilarious, an award-winning comedian, singer, writer and actor with incredible live TV experience," they said.

Samberg's statement further cements him as the right choice as host for the Emmy's, "Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers! If you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts."

The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards airs on Sept. 20 on Fox Live.
