The next-gen Moto 360 watch has leaked online courtesy of none other than Lenovo's CEO Yang Yuanqing himself. The baffling question is that whether this is indeed the impending Moto 360 2 or a new smartwatch from Lenovo altogether?

According to MyDrivers, the Lenovo CEO posted the pictures of what appears to be the prototype of the next iteration of the Moto 360 smartwatch on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

The accidentally leaked image was also accompanied by the message "Moto 360, matching the arrival of the era of freedom, in the future we want to increase the store features a watch shop."

Soon after, Yuanqing pulled the image off from the social media site which is the Chinese equivalent of Twitter. Nevertheless, even though the image was deleted, MyDrivers managed to get hold of the same.

The leaked image suggests that Motorola is working on new hues for the impending Moto 360 2 and the smartwatch will come in two different sizes.

The device depicted in the leaked image does not resemble the existing Moto 360 variant, fueling speculations that Motorola could be working on a new smartwatch.

However, in November 2014, Gleb Mishin - Motorola's head of Eastern European branch, hinted that the Moto 360's successor would sport a modified design when compared to the original wearable. This is in line with the company's attempt to make the smartwatch resemble a traditional watch. Mishin had also let on that the Moto 360 2 would launch in early 2015.

Therefore, a possibility exists that the leaked image could be of the redesigned Moto 360 2, which will launch in a new avatar.

The leaked images of the prototype smartwatch also suggest that the wearable will have customization options available as watch bands can be spotted in two sizes. This suggests that Motorola is looking to diversify the personalization options available for the next-gen Moto 360.

Even though the casing for the new Motorola smartwatch seems different when compared to the existing Moto 360, the prototypes tout the same old "chin" which enabled the Moto 360 to boast thinner bezels.

It remains to be seen whether this is the Moto 360 2 or a new smartwatch altogether.
