The Russo Brothers, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are set to direct Avengers: Infinity War, parts 1 and 2. The brothers will also direct Captain America: Civil War, a film that will go into production in April.

According to Badass Digest, the deal has been finalized between Marvel Studios and the Russo Brothers and that filming will begin in 2016. The plan is to film both movies back-to-back between 2016 and 2017 to prepare them for release in 2018 and 2019.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who wrote the screenplay for Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are expected to pen the script for both Infinity War films. Apparently, Marvel believes both writers work very well alongside the Russo Brothers, which is the main reason they have been chosen.

Additionally, Badass Digest claims that Captain America: Civil War will be the film to set up the Infinity War storyline, so we suspect Thanos might make his presence felt one way or the other. We've already seen him in the first Avengers movie and Guardians of the Galaxy, and we know that his next move to conquer the universe is Earth.

From here on, it appears James Gunn is done with the Avengers franchise, but he might move to other Marvel projects. His last will be the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, and from there, he will pass on the reigns to the Russo Brothers.

The Russo Brothers, along with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, did excellent work with The Winter Soldier, so we have complete faith in the team to wow fans with their future work.
