The clues keep cropping up around the HTC One M9+, the Taiwanese smartphone maker's rumored new device that will be unveiled in Beijing on April 8.

Serial Twitter leakster @upleaks of China first revealed that HTC was working on a new handset with the code name Hima Ultra, before confirming that the phone was the HTC One M9+.

As can be guessed from its name, the rumored smartphone is a tad bigger than HTC's new flagship, the One M9. Sources have claimed a display size between 5.2 and 5.5 inches, but most agree that the One M9+ will feature a 2,550 x 1,440 resolution display, which would make it HTC's first foray into Quad HD. The current flagship has 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Leaked images from @upleaks as well as @onleaks – AKA Steve Hemmerstoffer of NowhereElse.fr – reveal that the One M9+ would bring back the Duo Camera introduced in the One M8. The pictures show the bigger 20-megapixel rear camera sitting below a smaller depth sensor, which surprisingly does not appear in the One M9.

The phone is also expected to feature a Samsung-style fingerprint scanner mounted on the front of the device, next to the front-facing BoomSound speakers — though @upleaks says it is not a home button. The last HTC device to get a fingerprint reader was the HTC One Max, which had the reader placed on the back of the device — a location that pleased few users.

HTC is expected to officially introduce the One M9+ at its More than One event in China on April 8. Hemmerstoffer said the device will be available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, though no word yet on whether the new smartphone will come to the U.S. The phone appears to have the interesting color combination of gunmetal gray for the body and gold for the frame.

The One M9+ will reportedly run on a MediaTek MT6795 64-bit, octa-core chipset with a PowerVR C6200 GPU under the hood, unlike the Snapdragon 810 chip powering the One M9, according to @upleaks. This is confirmed by an AnTuTu info screen that also shows the device will have 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
