The fifth season of AMC's The Walking Dead is sure to keep you hanging on to the edge of your seat as we see Rick single-handedly protect Alexandria from a pack of walkers that got in while Morgan makes an epic return.

Fan favorite Morgan kicks off Sunday's extended final episode of the zombie drama's fifth season as he meets two men etched with the letter W on their foreheads and learns about the Wolves, who will get more air time in season six as the latest band of villains to threaten Rick and company. The men take Morgan's possessions and threaten to kill him, not knowing what serious stick skills Morgan has. He attacks both of them and leaves them inside the car where they found him, honking the horn to attract the walkers while he gets away.

Meanwhile, Rick becomes a prisoner of Alexandria after his outburst with Pete during the show's penultimate season. As Michonne watches over him, Aaron and Daryl go into the woods to check out the vicinity. Carol, Glenn, and Abraham visit a stitched up Rick and tell him Alexandria leader Deanna will be holding a town meeting to decide whether Rick gets to stay or will be kicked out. Rick devises a plan and assigns everyone a person to grab if anything goes awry at the meeting, naturally assigning himself Deanna. Maggie confronts Deanna and tells her to cancel the town forum, but Deanna refuses to listen. Maggie later tells Glenn she's going to convince everyone in town to vote for Rick to stay. Glenn catches Nicholas jumping over a fence into the woods and follows him there.

Elsewhere in the woods, Sasha digs a grave of walkers she's killed and, in perhaps the most intense scene of the episode, lies on top of the zombies and pretends to be dead with them. While Sasha is playing dead, Aaron and Daryl find a parking lot to a warehouse filled with food. Little do they know, the trucks parked outside the warehouse are hiding walkers with W carved into their foreheads. They break into one of those trucks, which lead to more trucks being opened by the walkers, and the men are surrounded by a crowd of walkers to fend off, with Daryl using a license plate and Aaron taking out three walkers in the single whip of a chain, before they find themselves trapped in a car with hordes of walkers pressing at the windows.

Daryl decides to let Aaron make a run for it while he distracts the walkers, but Aaron makes the inevitable "we're in this together" speech. Just as the two were about to dive into the swarm of walkers, Morgan walks in and saves the day. Not knowing who Morgan is, Aaron and Daryl invite him to Alexandria, but he refuses and shows them the map he found inside Father Gabriel's church.

Speaking of Father Gabriel, he decides to take a walk in the woods without a weapon. When he returns, Deanna's son asks him to leave the gate closed, and he does so carelessly that the gate bounces back open behind his back. From his open window, Rick sees the gate open and rushes outside to close it, only to find fresh blood hanging on the gate's lock, so he goes off in search of the walkers that have slipped inside.

Back out in the woods, Nicholas shoots Glenn in the shoulder and leaves him there for the walkers to kill. He then finds himself face to face with a walker and shoots it in the head, but Glenn comes up from behind and the two get into a fight. When a pack of walkers appear, Nicholas runs away, leaving Glenn behind for the second time. Somehow, however, Glenn survives the walkers and pounces on Nicholas with all the rage of Rick. He points a gun at Nicholas, but Nicholas says he was scared when he tried to kill Glenn. Glenn does not have the heart to shoot and puts the gun away.

Inside Alexandria, the townsfolk are debating over whether to keep Rick or toss him. Maggie speaks for Rick, but Deanna is not convinced. Maggie leaves for the chapel, after which Rick arrives, bloody-faced and carrying a dead walker and drops it on the ground for the townspeople to see. He tries to convince them that he is not the enemy, that he will teach them to defend themselves, but he is interrupted by a very drunk Pete, who slits Deanna's husband's throat. With her husband dying in her arms, Deanna gives Rick the go-signal. Rick obliges and shoots Pete in the head, just in time as Morgan arrives, horrified at the sight of Pete.
