The Blade S6 Plus phablet was first unveiled at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Similarly, its 5-inch Blade S6 sibling was launched at the beginning of the year.

The devices share features such as a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset, Adreno 405 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 by 1280 pixel resolution, 13 MP main camera, 5 megapixel secondary camera, and dual-SIM functionality.

As the name implies, the Blade S6 Plus has a bigger JDI Super Screen that measures 5.5 inches. It's built with In-Cell technology that allows for better images with more vibrance. As for the battery, the Blade S6 Plus is said to have a higher-capacity 3000 mAh variant instead of the standard 2400 mAh.

"We are very excited to announce with eBay the global availability of the ZTE Blade S6 Plus," said CEO Adam Zeng of ZTE Mobile Devices. "Following the successful launch of the Blade S6, we are now offering our consumers a larger-screen alternative to a device that combines high-end performance and quality at a very competitive price tag."

Another feature that is unique to the Blade S6 Plus is its innovative capacity to function as an infrared remote control. This allows the device to manipulate DSLRs, air conditioning units, set-top boxes, televisions and more. Knowing that the infrared function is compatible with all major brands of electronics and household items, users can be assured of getting a bigger chance to be relieved from the hassle of using several different remote controls. It is also very easy to use.

"We are thrilled that ZTE has again decided to debut their latest device on eBay, said John Lin, Managing Director of eBay Greater China. "Through our global marketplaces, we will partner with ZTE to introduce their excellent products to our 155 million customers worldwide."

ZTE's decision to use eBay as their distribution channel is not entirely new. A few years ago, it did the same thing for its Firefox OS-based devices. In the meantime, the ZTE Blade 6 is also available at online marketplaces from other various locations, such as Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

The Blade S6 Plus is retailed at $299.99, which is a bit higher than the Blade S6's price of $250. However, the company said that, for a limited time, consumers will be able to purchase the Blade S6 Plus at a discounted price of $270.

There's no word yet on when the device will be available in the U.S. At present, only countries such as the U.K., Italy, Spain, France and Germany can purchase the device from their local eBay shop.
