Furious 7 was estimated to open with a massive $115 million earning, but it didn't. Instead, the film raked in $143.6 million in the United States, but globally is where the movie is causing havoc.

The James Wan-directed film earned $240.3 million outside the U.S. to top out at $384 million on its first weekend. This debut of Furious 7 is the best in the franchise, and because of the number of moviegoers coming out to see Paul Walker one more time on the big screen, we believe it could go on to make $1 billion.

For those who are wondering, Furious 7 took the crown for the biggest April opening ever, the best Easter opening ever, the best opening since the Hunger Games: Catching Fire back in 2013, and the second largest opening in pre-summer.

Furious 7 has three weeks to cause havoc at the box office, especially since the film has nothing of significance to go up against for the rest of the month. This is why we believe it could make $1 billion quickly, but it needs to do so before Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1.

Rentrak's weekend estimates follow:

1. Furious 7 $143.6 million

2. Home $27.4 million

3. Get Hard $12.9 million

4. Cinderella $10.3 million

5. The Divergent Series: Insurgent $10 million

6. It Follows $2.5 million

7. Woman in Gold $2 million

8. Kingsman: The Secret Service $1.7 million

9. Do You Believe? $1.5 million

10. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel $1 million

Looking at this list, two family movies are part of the top four. Home, the animated flick featuring the voices of Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Steve Martin and Rihanna, turns the notion of alien invasion into a silly pursuit of cowardly extraterrestrials. Cinderella, on the other hand, remains the classic Disney tale that it is - only in live-action format.

we have to give praises to Kingsman: The Secret Service. The movie is magnificent, and it proves how powerful word of mouth is. It is currently on the decline, so we doubt it will be at the box office by the end of the month.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent is still holding on strong despite the host of negative reviews. If it weren't for the fans of the novels, this movie would have lost its footing long ago.
