Sadly enough, it looks like gamers are still facing something of a dry spell. There are only a select few releases set for this week, and the schedule pales in comparison to the sheer glut of releases fans witness every holiday season. For whatever reason, publishers just don't like putting games out during Spring Break...

That said, there are some absolutely huge releases this week — these are the titles fans have been waiting on for months, even years. For once, both PC and console players have something to look forward to. Despite the low numbers, there's a surprising amount of variety on display this week.

Sure, there aren't that many releases, but as they say — quality over quantity!

Knights of Pen & Paper 2

Release Date: April 14
Platform: PC, Mobile

There haven't been many traditional turn-based RPGs released lately. Even the series that helped solidify the genre, Final Fantasy, has left turn-based battles behind. For those who miss the slower, more tactical RPGs of old, Knights of Pen & Paper 2 should help fill that niche — just don't expect the game to take itself too seriously.

Titan Souls

Release Date: April 14
Platform: PS4, PS Vita, PC

What happens when you mix Dark Souls with old-school 2D Legend of Zelda games? You get Titan Souls: a ridiculously difficult open-world action-adventure game. The hook here is that bosses can only take a single hit before dying, but the same holds true for the player. This isn't a run-and-gun action game — that much is certain.

Grand Theft Auto V

Release Date: April 14
Platform: PC

Nearly two years after its initial release, Grand Theft Auto V is finally hitting the PC. The updated version comes with 4K textures, the ability to run at 60fps and – with any luck – heists working straight out of the box. Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best games in recent memory, and after years of waiting, PC players will finally have a chance to visit Los Santos.

Mortal Kombat X

Release Date: April 14
Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC

It's hard to imagine any other fighting game getting as much hype as Mortal Kombat X. If the 2011 version was a return to form, then Mortal Kombat X is an expansion on everything that worked: a more robust online mode, a new story for players to conquer, and most importantly — new Fatalities. If you can't handle gore, don't even bother... but for everyone else, Mortal Kombat X is looking to be one of the biggest games this spring.

Again, there aren't many games coming out this week, but Mortal Kombat X and Grand Theft Auto V should be more than enough to keep gamers happy. If you're not into either of those games, there are a few other options... but let's be honest — if you're not into Mortal Kombat or Grand Theft Auto, you probably don't play that many games.

What's not to love?
