The original Apple watch is now up for sale on eBay and is priced at almost $2,500. The watch is an analog type and dates back over two decades.

The eBay seller offers at least two pieces of the watch on the auction site. It doesn't resemble any features of the current Apple smartwatch and is said to be made as a giveaway promotional item for Mac OS.

Compared with the current Apple Watch, the eBay-listed wristwatch has no Sapphire glass display, Digital Crown or Taptic Feedback. In other words, it's a watch that simply tells the time.

The watch is now considered as a "rare" collector's item and is listed with a price tag that's even more expensive than the current Apple Watch. The latter was available for preorder on April 10 and is slated for a release on April 24. Based on early sales estimates, almost 1 million U.S. customers purchased the wearable on the first day it became available.

By comparison, Android Wear devices had a record sale of 720,000 pieces until the end of 2014.

The upcoming Apple Watch is, so far, the most highly awaited device to be launched in 2015. Shipping dates of the wearable are said to be pushed back until June. With all the attention it's receiving prior to launch, the eBay seller sees it as an opportunity to ride with the tide and make some "super extra" cash along the way.

The eBay-listed original Apple watch has additional charges apart from the given retail price. It also charges $40.29 for postage and $687.12 for import. The delivery date is estimated to be anytime between Apr. 22 and Apr. 29.

Overall, buying the original Apple timepiece has a total cost that is equivalent to the price of seven entry-level Apple Watch Sport models with some change that could be used to purchase extra bands.

"Brand new with plastic seal on back..!!! Battery has been replaced and watch was tested. Working good..!!!!," says the eBay seller in the notes.

Other eBay sellers are offering the new and more technological Apple Watch for sale. Some have even posted their preorder receipts of the wearable from Apple.
