As Samsung prepares to launch its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone, details regarding its camera-centric 'Zoom' variant have leaked.

Samsung is very good at creating spin-off devices from its current flagship smartphone. Last summer, the company introduced the Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Mini. Each smartphone was given features designed to appeal to specific users. The Galaxy S4 Active was made to be a more rugged version of the Galaxy S4 and was Samsung's first dust-resistant and waterproof smartphone. The Galaxy S4 Mini appeals to smartphone owners who want a more compact version (4.3-inch display) of Samsung's 5-inch Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom was designed for users who want to carry one less device by combining a smartphone and point-and-shoot camera. Samsung is reportedly going to follow the same variant system for the Galaxy S5, as new information on the Galaxy S5 Zoom has leaked online.

The leaked information comes in the form of what is said to be a hand written note from a Samsung presentation in Poland. The note reveals the device will use a slimmer design when compared to the Galaxy S4 Zoom thanks to a new internal zoom system that will offer 10x optical zoom. The smartphone will reportedly ship with a 20-megapixel camera and 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display. The leaked note also reveals that the Galaxy S5 Zoom will use a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S5 Zoom will supposedly ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and updated version of Samsung TouchWiz, which will make its debut on the Galaxy S5.The on-board camera will also use a Xenon flash and include optical image stabilization.

Samsung will reportedly unveil the Galaxy S5 Zoom, and likely the S5 Mini sometime in May according to recent reports.

As always, it's always best to take these kinds of reports with a huge grain of salt. The note in the image could contain some of the Galaxy S5 Zoom's specs or it could be a scribbled note that was in the trash for a reason. We'll keep our eye on this and keep you updated on the Galaxy S5 and all of its unannounced variants.
