Just last week, reports surfaced about the Oklahoma City Thunder evaluating the status of Scott Brooks after he failed to lead them to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.

Well, that didn't take long. On Wednesday, the Thunder fired Brooks. This comes after he led the Thunder to a 45-37 season, but missed the playoffs.

Sources are telling Yahoo Sports that Thunder general manager Sam Presti's decision to fire Brooks wasn't about his job this season, but more of serious look into the future's franchise.

Yahoo Sports is also reporting that Florida coach Billy Donovan is expected to become a serious candidate to take over the position. Donovan and Presti are said to be good friends over the years. OKC is also reportedly going to give UConn's Kevin Ollie a strong look for the position.

It's hard to blame the job Brooks did this season, considering last season's MVP, Kevin Durant, only played 27 games due to various injuries. Durant and teammate Russell Westbrook also publicly backed Brooks as the Thunder's head coach last week.

But the news isn't all bad for Brooks.
