More details emerge about Call of Duty's trip back to the future, including the game's unusual launch date.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches on Nov. 6, 2015, a Friday. The shooter has so much content across each of its game modes that developer Treyarch and publisher Activision thought it would be a good idea to launch the game at the start of a weekend, giving players much more time to into this year's Call of Duty, stated Rob Kostich, Activision's senior vice President.

"Campaign has been reimagined and can now be played cooperatively with your friends. Zombies, of course, are back," stated Kostich. "And multiplayer is bringing a ton of depth and new ideas to the experience. So giving fans as much time as possible out of the gate to experience all the game has to offer just made a lot of sense."

And after a solid three years in development, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is poised to stand out the recently refilling pool of sci-fi shooters. In the upcoming game, transhumanism, androids and drone warfare take on prominent roles on a backdrop of massive military leaks and geopolitical tensions that leave just a couple of ticks on the doomsday clock.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a dark, gritty future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat," states Treyarch.

Player steps into the role of super soldier, who has undergone several modifications, and take part in the covert operations that go outside of the line to get the job done.

The game starts off with an investigation into a CIA site that has gone dark, according to Jason Blundell, Black Ops 3's campaign director and senior executive producer at Treyarch.

"What follows is the largest leak of intelligence in military history, which leads to the collapse of covert operations worldwide, creating utter chaos," Blundell stated. "Your mission is to go behind enemy lines to find your brothers and uncover the disturbing truth."

The massive leak reveals so much devastating information about the world's top intelligence agencies that it spurs instability around the world. The narrative draws from current events, namely the Edward Snowden leaks, to paint a grim future that can only be made through the efforts of super soldiers such as those found in a Call of Duty game.
