New images of the reported super sized iPad have leaked, revealing the purported dimensions of the device. The device is expected to be named either the iPad Pro or the iPad Air Plus.

As rumors of a new super sized iPad continue to gain steam, now a render of the actual device has purportedly leaked to the public. The image reveals an ultra thin tablet measuring approximately 9.17 x 12 x 0.28in (223 x 306 x 7.2mm). It also reveals what appears to possibly be a USB type C port, though the image isn't clear enough to confirm this, and it could actually be a Lightning port.

News about the new large sized Apple tablet has been few and far between, but we reported back in January that mold images of the device leaked, showing a similar sized tablet complete with two stereo speaker slots.

In February a respected analyst confirmed the iPad Pro/Plus for a fourth quarter 2015 release. "Our supply side (sources say) it's a go for 2015," stated Rhoda Alexander of IHS, a top market research firm analyst. "The release timing is fuzzy. It may not appear until Q4 (fourth quarter) with the other iPad updates. We are, however, getting input from both the component and [product] side that this is a real product, and part of their 2015 building plan."

The new jumbo tablet is a move by Apple to combat slowing sales of iPads. As smartphones become larger and many users upgrade to the phablet category, there is less differentiation in size between a tablet and a smartphone/phablet. Apple also famously shrunk its flagship tablet when it introduced the iPad Mini, creating further overlap between the categories.

The name of the new tablet is still not confirmed, but iPad Pro seems to be the current frontrunner on the rumor mill, while iPad Pro or iPad Air Plus are also popping up as possibilities. There are also rumors of a stylus, similar to Samsung's popular S Pen. Steve Jobs was famously anti-stylus, but as Tim Cook moves the company in new directions, all possibilities seem to be on the table for Apple when introducing new products, like its new smartwatch, the Apple Watch.
