A new Android 5.0. Lollipop update has been released by Sprint to owners of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The update adds a key feature and may fix some software problems being experienced by users.

Sprint was one of the first major U.S. carriers to release the Android 5.0. Lollipop update to users of the Galaxy S5 back in February. Now, the carrier has released another Android 5.0. Lollipop update that carries an important feature of factory reset protection. Factory reset protection adds additional device protection for smartphones that are lost or stolen. It ensures that a phone cannot be used without the original owner signing in via his or her Google account even if a factory reset is performed on the device. The feature was not included in the original Android 5.0. Lollipop update Sprint released for the Galaxy S5 back in February. However, now, all Sprint Galaxy S5 owners will have factory reset protection on their devices after updating to this latest software release.

Many Galaxy S5 users have experienced various problems with their devices since installing the Android 5.0. Lollipop update. Samsung recently acknowledged the issues and promised it would be releasing small incremental updates to address them. Whether the new update addresses some of those issues, which include battery drain, overheating, problems with apps and notifications and other performance issues, is unclear. It is very possible, however, that there are some bug fixes in the new software that are not specifically acknowledged in Sprint's official announcement.

Have you received the new Sprint Android 5.0. Lollipop update for your Galaxy S5? Do you notice any changes or improvements beyond the new factory reset feature described above? Please let us know in the comments below.
