Learning the skill of coding is now made easier and even free. There are now a number of online educational sites that offer free coding courses which students from anywhere in the world can learn at their own pace. The student's work is also assessed and there's a feedback that comes after every completed task. It's just like going to a regular brick and mortar school. Only this time, the student is in total control of his schedule.

Here are the top popular sites to visit that offer free lessons on coding.

Codecademy. Compared to other online education platforms, Codecademy focuses entirely on giving coding lessons to students. Courses, which are grouped into eight tracks, include web fundamentals, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, and APIs. Students can also combine languages into projects. The site is a well-known first stop online education site catering to those who are keen on jumpstarting their coding education.

MIT OpenCourseWare. MIT features free course content that can be browsed by anyone at his leisure. This means that anyone can learn from one of the top American research institutions. Some of these offered courses include "Introduction to Programming in Java," "Practical Programming in C," "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming," and more.

Coursera. Otherwise known as the king of online education, Coursera offers courses from several dozens of top universities through the web which can be taken by anyone for free.
