There are a lot of reasons to be excited about Jurassic World. If the movie ends up being anything like its trailers, it could be a return to form for the franchise: the movie's being played up almost like a slasher flick, with one giant, super-intelligent dinosaur stalking the park and devouring tiny humans.

However (and more importantly), the trailers also feel like a follow-up to the original movie, even moreso than the later sequels. With any luck, the final product will be just as good or better.

Either way, fans are excited: Jurassic World is tracking some absolutely huge opening weekend box office numbers just a few weeks before its debut. It makes a lot of sense - the film's marketing campaign has been all over the place lately, and there's nothing else like it this summer.

So, what's Jurassic World's opening weekend starting to look like? Well, things are definitely looking good for the studio as the dino-based action flick is set to bring in over $100 million during its opening weekend.

Overall, Jurassic World is set for an amazing box office debut: tracking (via Deadline) has the film set at anywhere between $100 million and $130 million. While Avengers: Age of Ultron still dwarfs that number (as everyone expected it would), Jurassic World could still be one of the biggest movies of the year. That being said, box office tracking isn't always 100 percent accurate. While it's a good estimate, there are so many different factors that go into box office numbers that it's almost impossible to accurately predict what sales will look like.

Of course, that $100 million is just for the film's opening weekend: despite the fact that Jurassic World boasts a roughly $150 million budget, it looks like it's on track to break even after just a few weeks in theaters.

Box office hit or not, let's just hope that Jurassic World is more about people trying to survive an island full of dinosaurs than watching a CG Tyrannosaurus Rex blow up gas stations in San Diego.

Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12.
