In the age of the web and social media, one out-of-context comment or offensive joke can spread like wildfire and quickly become a controversy. We've seen it happen before and we will see it happen again.

It's exactly for that reason Chris Pratt took to Facebook to issue an apology in advance for the dumb things he might say during his upcoming Jurassic World press tour:

"I want to make a heartfelt apology for whatever it is I end up accidentally saying during the forthcoming ‪#‎JurassicWorld‬ press tour," Pratt writes. "I hope you understand it was never my intention to offend anyone and I am truly sorry. I swear. I'm the nicest guy in the world. And I fully regret what I (accidentally will have) said in (the upcoming foreign and domestic) interview(s)."

He continues to apologize for his (potential) future offenses, saying that if he does mess up on tour, it will be in part because he is likely tired and exhausted.

"I am not in the business of making excuses," Pratt continues. "I am just dumb. Plain and simple. I try. I REALLY try! When I do (potentially) commit the offensive act for which I am now (pre) apologizing you must understand I (will likely have been) tired and exhausted when I (potentially) said that thing I (will have had) said that (will have had) crossed the line. Those rooms can get stuffy and the hardworking crews putting these junkets together need some entertainment! (Likely) that is who I was trying to crack up when I (will have had) made that tasteless and unprofessional comment."

He even goes as far to name his (possible) Internet controversy: "JuarrasicGate."

Pratt's statement comes in light of the controversy that Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner found themselves in earlier this summer. When asked about the role of Scarlet Johansson's character of Black Widow in Age of Ultron, the two joked about how Black Widow was a whore for seemingly trying to hook up with three different Avengers. The two actors later apologized (sort of), but many Black Widow fans were more than a little upset.

As Pratt points out in his status, the conditions on these press tours are perfect for those kind of slip-ups. These actors are doing dozens of interviews back-to-back-to-back, getting asked the same old questions. They are tired and want it to be over. So when the opportunity arises to make a joke or go off the rails a bit, it's hard not to.

Just keep in mind that when Pratt does mess up, you can't be mad at him. He already apologized.
