Apple's next iPhone, largely expected to be called the iPhone 6s, will reportedly be including the "Force Touch" feature found on the Apple Watch and new MacBooks.

The new feature will offer users a range of new gestures for their devices, allowing them to drop a pin on a map or create a calendar event simply by pressing harder on their display.

Force Touch was first introduced on the Apple Watch and was developed specifically for the device as a way for users to more easily input commands into the device, given its smaller screen size. After that, however, Apple brought the feature to the new MacBook, allowing users to use their trackpads for a range of new commands. It makes sense that it would be introduced into the iPhone and iPad ranges, bringing all of Apple's products in line with each other as far as input methods go.

It's important to note that Force Touch is different from the tap and hold features already found on the iPhone. It is possible that Force Touch will replace many of the tap and hold features in iOS 8, but it is also likely that we will see Apple introduce a number of new commands for Force Touch.

Sources suggest that Force Touch will be a feature for the power user, introducing commands that are not essential to the functionality of the iPhone but are still handy to know. This makes sense given the fact that iOS 9 will be Force Touch-ready, but many devices that have iOS 9 available as an update will not have Force Touch displays.

In fact, rumors suggest that Apple is already working with third-party developers to incorporate Force Touch into their apps and services.

Of course, Force Touch isn't the only new feature to expect in iOS 9. Apple is also rumored to be working on a new keyboard for the operating system. The keyboard will reportedly be slightly longer than the current one and include a number of new editing controls while in landscape mode.

iMessage will also reportedly get some new features, supporting read receipts for group threads as well as read receipts for individual contacts. What this means is that users will be able to activate read receipts for some contacts but disable them for others.

Last but not least, Apple is reportedly considering removing the Game Center app, as it has in the past. The app does not appear in some early iOS 9 builds, according to reports.
