Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' SRT team has developed an entirely original supercar for highly-acclaimed racing video game Gran Turismo 6.

FCA US released teaser pictures and a video of the supercar, named the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo, on May 29.

The vehicle is a single-seater concept car with a hydrid powertrain, featuring an aggressive-looking design with certain exposed elements made of carbon fiber. The hoodscoop of the vehicle looks like it was inspired by the Viper, with the car also sporting five exhaust pipes mounted at the center of the car's rear.

"It has guts to it," said Mark Trostle, Dodge and SRT Design head said in the teaser video which is 57 seconds long.

"We worked to make sure that it pushed the envelope," Trostle added, and push the envelope the vehicle did.

A spokesperson for the company did not issue a comment on whether Fiat Chrysler has plans to release a car similar to the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo in real life. While Fiat Chrysler created a scale model along with sketches for the car, the company did not make a full-scale, functional version of the concept car.

Fiat Chrysler will be showcasing the video game-only vehicle on June 2 to journalists with the assistance of Kazunori Yamauchi, the developer of Gran Turismo who is also a professional race car driver and Polyphony Digital's president.

Polyphony Digital is an internal development studio of Sony that created the Gran Turismo franchise.

The release of the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo will be exclusive to Gran Turismo 6, with gamers expected to gain access to the car within the summer. The vehicle was created with the help of the Vision Gran Turismo project, which sent out invitations to automobile manufacturers to help in the celebration of the Gran Turismo franchise's 15-year anniversary by creating new cars for the game.

General Motor Co. previously unveiled a concept vehicle that was created within the Vision Gran Turismo project last year. The vehicle is named the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo.

The Vision Gran Turismo project is ongoing, with other car brands that have partnered up with the project including BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, MINI, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.
