Maybe they pulled the leaked release date from the Xbox website because it was wrong. Maybe it wasn't wrong and they decided to keep the press and players guessing. In any case, "they," the teams at 343 Industries, finally released the remastered version of Halo 3: ODST and have begun gifting codes.

The campaign for the Master Chief Collection's rework of Halo 3: ODST will go on sale soon for $5. For those who suffered through the Master Chief Collection's bugs early, the "we're sorry" game codes are going out now, as confirmed in a tweet by Rob Semsey, senior PR manager at Xbox.

"Online users that logged in with their Xbox Live account and played Halo: The Master Chief Collection on any day from November 11, 2014 through December 19, 2014 at 11:59 pm PDT are eligible for a free code granting access to the Campaign for Halo 3: ODST on Xbox One," stated 343 Industries.

The game codes are being sent in messages on the Xbox One. The notices will disappear after June 30, at which point gamers will have to contact Xbox Live's customer support to redeem the codes. Also, players will need to confirm ownership of copies of the Master Chief Collection with either their physical discs or digital licenses.

343 Industries reminds players that the Master Chief Collection's version of Halo 3: ODST includes the game's core campaign only. There is no Firefight game mode.

"Our focus is enhancing the Campaign for Halo 3: ODST, including it within Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and ensuring it delivers a great experience on Xbox One in 1080p and 60 fps," said 343 Industries.

Also in crisp 1080p and a slick 60 fps is the Remnant multiplayer map, a remake of the one from Halo 2: Anniversary. The map is free for all owners of the Master Chief Collection and is available now.
