Want to trade-in your old iPhone for an iPhone 6? Then you're in luck as Apple has upped the trade-in value for iPhones by $15.

Thanks to Apple's Reuse and Recycle Program, iPhone users will be able to get a bit more money out of their older Apple smartphone. The trade-in value jump, however, is only limited to customers in the U.S.

For those in the U.S., to take advantage of Apple's Reuse and Recycle Program your old iPhone needs to be in working condition i.e. the buttons, display, powering on etc. should all be workable.

The trade-in program from Apple has been around since 2013 and lets users trade-in their old smartphone for a specific credit, which can be used toward the purchase of a new iPhone.

The current Apple promotion which ups the trade-in value by $15 is a limited period offer - only till June.

Apple will pay the users of the following iPhones the following amount (depending on the condition). However, this amount will be given not in cash but as an Apple Store gift card.

- Trading in the iPhone 4 will get you a maximum of $25 - increase from $10.

- Trading in the iPhone 4S will get you a maximum of $50 - increase from $35.

- Trading in the iPhone 5 will get you a maximum of $100 - increase from $85.

- Trading in the iPhone 5S will get you a maximum of $200 - increase from $185.

This trade-in value is for iPhones that are in good condition. However, iPhones that have experienced considerable wear and tear may not be eligible as Apple gives a caveat "Subject to quality verification by Brightstar, when a final value will be determined."

The in-store credit can be used toward purchasing the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C.

iPhones are not the only devices Apple is allowing as part of its trade-in program. Users with smartphones from Samsung, HTC, Nokia, LG or BlackBerry can also take advantage of the promotion. For example a Galaxy S5 (16GB) can get you up to a maximum of $170 in store credit if it is in good condition.

While Apple's trade-in program may be enticing, market places like eBay offer much more value for your old iPhones. To illustrate, a 16GB iPhone 5 can sell for over $200, which is way more than what Apple will give you.

Alternately, other trade-in programs such as those from Gazelle and Amazon offer you more value when compared to Apple as well. Gazelle and Amazon will give you $250 and $299, respectively, for an iPhone 5S (32GB) whereas Apple will offer you $200 by comparison.
