Samsung could be gearing up to launch a larger dual-edge smartphone called the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, if newly-leaked images are any indication.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge made its debut back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in early March and proved to be widely successful ever since. The smartphone builds on the technology Samsung first introduced with its Galaxy Note Edge, but offers a dual-edge display with functionality on both sides of the screen.

If the 5.1-inch display of the Galaxy S6 Edge is not big enough, Samsung is apparently getting ready to release a larger version.

Earlier this week the rumor mill started churning with regard to a purported Galaxy S6 Plus, which seemed essentially like a Galaxy S6 Edge clone with a bigger 5.4- or 5.5-inch display and a Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood. The handset is reportedly dubbed "Project Zero 2," as the original Galaxy S6 was internally dubbed "Project Zero" before its launch, and is expected to debut in the following weeks.

A brand new leak out of Russia now claims the smartphone may in fact launch as the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and gives a glimpse of its potential design in a couple of images. The same images also appear toward the end of a new video from popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee, who claims to have received them from an anonymous source.

When it comes to specifications, rumor so far have indicated that the purported Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will feature a larger display of around 5.5 inches. No resolution is mentioned, but it will likely have the same QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution of the original model.

Under the hood, the handset will reportedly pack a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, which would be a downgrade compared to the octa-core Exynos SoC found on the original flagships. The design of the smartphone leaked in these images also hints at a larger form factor, with slightly more space between the phone's edges and the camera module. An extra column of icons on the handset's home screen indicates extra real estate as well.

SamMobile previously learned from insiders that this Plus model could launch later this year alongside the next-generation Galaxy Note 5, but the publication nonetheless notes that a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus launch is rumored for the coming weeks.

No official confirmation is available at this point, but more information should come to light soon. In the meantime, take all leaks and rumors with a grain of salt.
