Taiwanese phone maker HTC has launched on its official Twitter account a 24-carat gold limited edition of the company's flagship smartphone, HTC One M9, to celebrate the end of the football season of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League.

The back of the golden body features information about the schedule of the final Champions League match between Juventus and FC Barcelona taking place at Berlin on June 6, according to the picture posted by HTC on Twitter.

Unfortunately, one of their followers noticed on the HTC One M9 photos a reflection of a presumably HTC photographer using an iPhone to shoot the pictures of the golden smartphones. As HTC must have been rushing towards a deadline, they hurriedly posted the now controversial images without checking. The social media never forgets mistakes like this, though HTC has quietly removed the picture from their Twitter account.

So instead of getting the limelight for its 24-carat golden body, the smartphone is now more known for what it seems like that HTC uses other company's flagship smartphones to take pictures of their own products.

All HTC's One smartphones feature the camera lens in the center of the device. If one would look closer at the picture, the camera on an iPhone is placed on the top left-hand side, and thanks to the shiny gold back of the HTC One M9, it reflected so the camera of the other phone seems in the top-right. In addition, one could actually make out the Apple logo. The emphasized blunder here though is not whether it is an actual iPhone or a knock-off, but that the phone used is definitely not an HTC smartphone.

HTC has not yet announced where and when one could purchase this viral limited edition of HTC One M9 or for how much. The company has been known to manufacture gold variants of its flagship smartphones for special occasions, and definitely this blinged-out model of the HTC One M9 would not fit every consumer's budget.

HTC One M9 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, with 32 GB internal storage space and 3 GB of RAM as well as 2840mAh battery. It also features a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display and a 20 megapixel camera. The phone provides great sounds as it partnered HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio.
