This phone is worthy of a trailer featuring it in a slow-motion splash through the mud, with a narration of its specs done by some burly man with a deep voice. Think truck commercials.

The all-new rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6, the S6 Active, is available now at AT&T dealers in colors of Gray, Camo Blue and Camo White.

Based on the same design as the Galaxy S6 smartphone that Samsung fans have known and loved for the past few months, the Galaxy S6 Active, with a $695 MSRP, was engineered for those who lead active lives, those whose work follows them, those who tough out the terrible because it is their job to do so and, again, those who simply have bad luck in keeping their phones functioning normally.

The S6 Active's rugged build adds another level of durability on top of the wide features set offered by the base model of Samsung's latest smartphone.

This phone earned a perfect five out of five stars on AT&T's Eco Rating System, which the wireless carrier uses to help customers understand how products affect the environment.

"With the Galaxy S6 active, we're delivering consumers with high durability coupled with the powerful performance of Samsung's latest flagship smartphone," said Tim Baxter, president, COO, and Mobile Division GM of Samsung Electronics America. "The result is a smartphone that brings ruggedized capabilities and water resistance coupled with the camera, battery and design features that empower our consumers and business users to do more."

The S6 Active runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is poised for upgrades to Android M when the new OS arrives later in the year. The handset is driven by a 64-bit octa-core processor and is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery, capable of being charged wirelessly.

The rugged handset comes standard with Samsung's Activity Zone, a suite of utility apps for those excursions out into the wild. The suite includes apps such as weather, compass, flashlight and other software for the movers and the doers who get the job done.

Well-qualified customers can bring home the S6 Active from an AT&T dealer for $0 down payment through the AT&T Next program.

As the exclusive dealer of Samsung Galaxy Active models, AT&T feels customers should have available "best-in-class specs" that are built to handle the battering of active lives, according to Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of Device Marketing and Developer Services at AT&T Mobility.

"The Galaxy S6 active is the best Galaxy S6 in the market," said Bradley. "It combines all the premium features of the Galaxy S6, but also is durable enough to handle wear and tear. You can't find this device—with its combination of performance, dependability, and 4G LTE reliability—with any other carrier. And on top of that, our customers will be able to choose between two cool new colors—Camo White and Camo Blue."
