Kishan Yadav, a businessman from India, became one of Apple's latest customers after he bought a 64GB iPhone 6 silver version, which cost 60,000 Indian rupees (approx. US$945), on June 20. However, Yadav was able to use his phone for only two days as it reportedly exploded when he was sitting inside his car.

According to Yadav, the incident started when he was in his car and talking to a friend using his new iPhone 6. He suddenly felt the device beginning to heat up. When he noticed some sparks coming out, he didn't hesitate to throw it out of his window. To his surprise, the phone exploded upon hitting the ground.

"My face could have [gotten burned] as the phone exploded in a matter of seconds," said Yadav. "When I threw the phone, the call was on and the battery was around 70 percent."

Yadav added that he felt lucky enough to be using his phone in speaker mode when the accident happened.

Yadav's case is not the first one involving an iPhone 6 or any other mobile device exploding. In March, a man from New York reported that his iPhone 5c suddenly exploded while it was inside his pocket. He suffered from third degree burns.

The same iPhone 5c model was involved in another explosion, this time affecting a 13-year-old who said that the device was in her back pocket. The girl also suffered from burns.

Samsung has also had to deal with negative publicity because of their devices supposedly heating up. LG was placed under the spotlight in December last year when a case of a burning LG G3 was also reported. Images of the burning device were uploaded by a user of Reddit who added that the incident left a burned hole in the mattress where the device was placed.

Investigation claimed that the explosion was caused by a defect in the battery. T-Mobile, being the phone's retailer, offered to help.

Yadav has already filed an FIR (First Information Report) at the police station. He took the damaged iPhone back to the shop where he bought the device. He was then advised to go to an authorized service center of Apple. The device is still being examined and Yadav is still waiting for an update.

Apple has not commented so far on the incident.
