One game is celebrating the fact that it has become an extremely popular title across many platforms with the sales statistics reaching millions, Minecraft.

Yes, you read that right! The seemingly simple block-punching game developed by Mojang has reached the 20 million sales mark today. The mobile version, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, reached a whopping 30 million in sales back in January, adding to the impressive numbers this humble game is stacking up.

According to the official Minecraft website counter: over 10,500 people have bought the game in the past 24 hours, while more than 20 million in total have purchased the PC and Mac versions of the game.

The game is also available in other platforms, such as Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and has racked up a staggering total sales of above 70 million copies to date across the different platforms.

Mojang's large-scale data analyst, Patrick Geuder, posted a photo on Twitter showing Mojang employees taking a photo documenting the momentous event.

Mojang's business developer, Daniel Kaplan, showed his appreciation to all the loyal followers of the game with this Twitter post:

Minecraft allows players to construct buildings with textured cubes to create a 3D generated world. Players engage in activities that let them explore, gather and craft items, be resourceful and participate in combat challenges. Perhaps this is why it has become a favorite among gamers of different ages.

Mojang is a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios, acquired for $2.5 billion back in November.
