Motorola seems to have slashed the price of the Moto 360 for good. More than a month ago, the wearable went on sale for $149. Now, the same cheaper price is still offered and it looks like it will never change.

Users who have been wanting to get their hands on the wearable but were otherwise turned off by its initial price tag can now take advantage of the device's new price point. The best thing about it is that the deal is here to stay. Buyers can simply decide to make the purchase whenever they choose.

The Moto 360 is by far one of the best designed wearables on the market to date and remains the most popular Android Wear device. The circular wearable, which boasts a sleek design and a slew of impressive specs, is now more desirable than ever with its more affordable price.

Users who are familiar with Motorola and the company's habit of launching new devices can't help but speculate that the pricing scheme hints that the company is gearing up to release a new smartwatch soon. According to rumors, the Moto 360's next-gen variant will have a higher-resolution display and is internally known as the codename "Smelt."

Since the word "Smelt" indicates molten metal, it is therefore assumed that the new Moto 360 will be designed with an all-metal build. Additionally, the device is said to to run on Android Wear 5.1. Other purported features include a 360 x 360 resolution and ARM v7 as the processor.

The Moto 360 is also the leading watch among Android Wear devices. Last year, total shipments for Android Wear devices reached 720,000, which is 15 percent of the 4.6 million wearable devices shipped.

The Moto 360, now priced at $149, is available at Motorola, Amazon and the Google Store. Customers should note, however, that the price is applicable to the wearable's basic leather band variant. Those who want a Moto 360 with a metal band will have to add $50.

Of course, some seasoned shoppers would say that just because a product has gone on sale doesn't mean that one should immediately buy it. With the Moto 360, however, it's definitely a steal if one can spare $149 for a wearable known not only for its design but also for its performance.
