Apple's next-gen iPad, which is rumored to carry the iPad Pro moniker, will reportedly boast a massive 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2,732 x 2,048 and pixel density of 264 ppi. The latest rumors say that Apple has finally picked Sharp and Samsung as the display suppliers of the upcoming iPad.

According to a new report, Apple has chosen Sharp as the main company responsible for supplying the displays, while Samsung will be the secondary supplier, acting as a backup just in case things turn out differently from the original plan. In fact, Sharp has started providing a small batch of test displays in June, which reportedly passed Apple's product standards.

Samsung, for its part, is said to start providing the panels in September. If this is true, then the first rollout of the next-gen iPad will sport displays that are made by Sharp.

Tech Times previously reported that the iPad Pro would most likely be unveiled in the fall, the same period when the iOS 9 is launched.

With its massive screen of 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro is set to become the first Apple device to feature a stylus. The company believes that pairing the massive iPad with a stylus could make the device more capable of multitasking.

Apple is aware that sales of the iPad have fallen sharply since customers may have been unwilling to upgrade. Moreover, the threat posed by Microsoft's Surface tablets looms. A number of Apple users now also prefer the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to the iPad. The current flagship smartphones have the same features and functionalities as their tablet cousin.

Sharp and Samsung are not the only companies that are in the screen industry. LG Display was also rumored to be among the contenders for supplying the displays of the next-gen iPad. The company was ranked third by Apple because of yield issues.

There's no official word yet from Apple confirming all the specs surrounding the much-anticipated iPad Pro.

With all the leaks and rumors appearing, users can decide, even at this point, if a 12.9-inch iPad packed with a stylus and the latest iOS 9 is indeed Apple's strongest entry yet into the world of business-focused devices.
