LinkedIn is teaming up with Evernote in a new effort to increase its position with premium and business users to jumpstart Evernote and its declining status in the industry. The move will see the cardscanning app CardMunch close down in July this year as it migrates users to Evernote.

The new connection will see the two company's respective endeavors be built out from the new partnership aimed at integrating and creating a one stop location for business and premium users.

"We want to have a great user experience for business cards," Evernote CEO Phil Libin explained in an exclusive interview.

"We both think it's a more valuable experience. The whole point of business cards is that they're a lot more than a contact record. In Evernote they become a bookmark in your life, with context."

The new partnership will likely see a number of users affected by the changes, but Libin believes that the combination of the platforms will see a large amount of people on the system. Currently, he says there are around 50,000 card scans daily.

Now, users on CardMunch will have the chance to upload their business cards on Evernote's new iOS apps. Android is coming soon. Those scans will then immediately be able to source information from LinkedIn profiles in the digitized environment.

With Evernote continuing to push out into the cloud-based sector and has done a decently solid job in latest years of maintaining its position in the industry, the teaming up with LinkedIn is another step toward boosting the overall number of users and creating a place for business people and others to reach out and better communicate.

By allowing users to have their business cards digitized, it helps to streamline the process of knowing who one is meeting. CardMunch, in many ways, revolutionized the business card industry and has helped potential job seekers deliver their resume in an instance to employers.

As part of the transition, Evernote users are able to get a free year of scanning in exchange for linking their account with their LinkedIn one, which the companies hope will help to streamline and make doing business in the cloud-based world a whole lot easier.

The potential expansion and incorporation of users could have significant revenue possibilities as online advertising continues to reach new heights.
