New details regarding Samsung's upcoming flagship phablet release have emerged. The specs for both the next-generation Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus have leaked.

When Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge at this year's Mobile World Congress, the company made it clear that it was taking its latest flagship smartphones in a new direction, a direction it for years publicly boasted offered important features Apple's iPhone lineup lacked.

Samsung used its inclusion of a removable battery and microSD expansion slot in all of its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagship smartphones prior to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to set itself apart from its biggest rival. The move to a more premium design using materials like metal and glass on the S6 and S6 Edge impressed many, but that new design came at a price — the smartphones had sealed batteries and no way of increasing storage via a microSD card.

It looks like Samsung is going to continue this trend with its upcoming Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which are expected to officially be announced at IFA in early September.

A new report from SamMobile sheds some new light on what we can expect in terms of specs for both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The Galaxy Note 5, which is going by model number SM-N920 will reportedly feature a 5.67-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD Super AMOLED display and is expected to be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exnos 7422 processor. The report claims the Note 5 will be offered in choices of black, silver, gold and white color options.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will reportedly feature the a 5.67-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD dual-edge Super AMOLED display, 32 GB of internal storage and Snapdragon 808 processor. The phablet will pack in a 16 megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), 5 megapixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies, large 3,000 mAh non-removable battery and the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box.
