Even in times of distress, Mark Cuban is thinking business.

After NBA star center DeAndre Jordan ditched the Dallas Mavericks — and the verbal agreement he gave them last week to sign a four-year, $80 million free-agent contract — to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers early Thursday morning (July 9), Cuban reacted to the biggest story in baskebtall by seizing the moment and shrewdly promoting his social media app, CyberDust.

The billionaire business mogul and owner of the Mavericks could have reacted to Jordan spurning his Mavs via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter — all of which he's a user of. Instead, he trickled his highly-anticipated response via CyberDust and promised there's more to come. Can you say free promotion?

"There will be a time when I detail everything I know regarding the last 48 hours," Cuban wrote in a CyberDust message, as reported by ESPN, without mentioning Jordan by name. "I don't think the time is right to say anything beyond the facts that he never responded to me at all yesterday. Not once. To this minute I have not heard anything from him since Tuesday night."

Even though he was delivering upsetting news to Mavs fans, Cuban brilliantly seized the moment to give CyberDust, which boasts highly-secure and self-destructing messages free publicity. Bet that his lengthier response about the Jordan free-agency saga will also wind up on CyberDust for a double dose of promotion.

If you're a basketball fan who was waiting to hear Cuban's response about the Jordan debacle and didn't know about the CyberDust app before, chances are you know about it now. So, even during a loss, Cuban's able to pull out a victory.

After verbally agreeing to sign with Dallas last week, Jordan started having second thoughts earlier this week. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, coach and president Doc Rivers and players Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Paul Pierce and J.J. Redick all visited Jordan's Houston home Wednesday.

The last-ditch effort wound up resulting in the center re-signing with the Clippers for approximately $87 million over four years ... and leaving the Mavericks high and dry, looking for a new option at center in the process. Cuban's phone calls and text messages to Jordan weren't returned.

We can't wait to hear Cuban's full response about the 48-hour crazed period that led to Jordan changing his mind. Stay tuned to CyberDust.
