You may have tried out the iOS 9 public beta for a while but had to admit in the end, this is just not doing the trick as there are still too many bugs complicating your life.

The easy solution is to simply downgrade to the much less bug-riddled iOS 8.4. Let us show you how you can achieve that without a lot of hassle.

The future of iPhone and iPad software is reflected in the iOS 9 public beta. However, this software still comes with quite a few "childhood diseases," making smooth running impossible at times. This is not the end of the world, however, since the final release of iOS 9 in a few months is bound to be much stronger. In fact, that is exactly what the public beta version is for, of course: to work out the kinks.

In the meantime, here is how you can downgrade to iOS 8.4 again:

1. Ensure you have a backup from when you were on iOS 8.4 and that you can spare up to half an hour on the ensuing process, during which you cannot use your phone. The only ingredients needed are your computer, iTunes and a Lightning cable.

2. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer (either Mac or Windows as long as you have iTunes on it), then press and hold the home button and the power button of your phone for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, let go of the power button, but keep holding the home button. Your phone will go into DFU mode.

3. iTunes will pop up a message saying that your device is in recovery mode. Let go of the home button once that pop-up appears but keep the iPhone/iPad connected. You can now downgrade to iOS 8.4 (or 8.3).

4. iTunes will ask what you want to do next (you might have to manually open iTunes). Click on the appearing Restore iPhone button. After you follow the prompts (Restore and Update, Next, Agree), iTunes will now find the iOS 8.4 software and start downloading it.

5. Once the download is complete and your device has automatically restarted, set it up like a new phone. You will get the option to choose to restore through iCloud or iTunes if you're downgrading to iOS 8.3 but not if it's to iOS 8.4. For this, you have to select "Restore from this backup" in iTunes and choose the archived backup you made before installing the iOS 9 public beta.

And, voilà! You're back on iOS 8.4!
