Walmart is having an attractive sale for the iPad Mini 2, with the 16GB Wi-Fi AT&T version of the tablet now selling for just $265.
Considering that the Wi-Fi-only iPad Mini 2 with 16GB of storage normally retails for $429, Walmart's promotional sale now allows interested customers to make notable savings of $164.
The iPad Mini 2 is no longer the latest iteration in the lineup, but it's still a powerful tablet with plenty to offer. The slate proved widely popular since its release, with many fans praising its high-resolution Retina Display, its smooth performance and overall reliability.
In fact, when Apple launched its iPad Mini 3, many felt that it didn't sport big enough upgrades as to warrant an upgrade from the iPad Mini 2. The new iteration kept the same display, processor, cameras, and more, as the only changes over the iPad Mini 2 were the addition of a Touch ID fingerprint reader, the Apple Pay service and a new Gold color options.
In other words, the iPad Mini 2 is basically just as good as the iPad Mini 3, at least in terms of hardware performance. As a reminder, the slate features a 7.9-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536, which translates to a 326 ppi pixel density.
Under the hood, the iPad Mini 2 packs an Apple A7 processor paired with an M7 coprocessor, delivering a fast and fluid performance. Other specs include a 5-megapixel iSight rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime front camera, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, optional LTE, and 16GB/ 32GB/ or 64GB internal storage configurations. The subsequent iPad Mini 3 ditched the 32GB model, launching in 16GB or 64GB versions only.
The iPad Mini 2 already enjoyed great popularity among Apple fans and other tablet shoppers, and the new discount from Walmart will likely make the slate even more successful. Walmart likely aims to compete against Amazon and its Prime Day Sale that takes place on Wednesday, July 15, slashing the price of various products.
Walmart mentions that it will offer attractive deals on other days as well, not just on July 15, but this iPad Mini 2 discount may be good for one day only. At the time of writing, the 16GB iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi costs just $265.
