Amazon Home Services is going to be reaching a lot more homes.

On Wednesday (July 22), the tech giant announced that its Amazon Home Services, a one-stop shop for hiring plumbers, electricians, painters, carpenters and more, is expanding into 11 new cities, inlcuding Chicago, Miami, Houston, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington D.C.

"It is a very big deal for us as a company and it's an opportunity for us to serve our customer base in a broader fashion," Nish Lathia, general manager of Amazon Home Services, said in an interview with CNET. "It is very different than selling products. That said, what we've found is that an essential number of our customers, they need services—whether it be help getting their garbage disposals installed to moving help."

With the 11 additional citites, the e-commerce website's service is also expected to increase service offerings to about 15 million, according to Lathia. And the jobs will be more custom, with offerings of everything from replacing a door knob to paving a driveway.

The new cities join the initial group of cities (New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco), in which Amazon Home Services are offered. The other new cities include: Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, San Diego and San Jose.

Essentially, Amazon Home Services gives customers a list of contractors, specializing in home improvement, yard and outdoors, automotive, computer and electronics, and lessons and classes as a few of the many service areas offered.

Amazon Home Services is also trying to differentiate itself from Yelp and Angie's List by vetting each contractor on its site, something that should ease any customers who are interested in contracting a job for their homes.
