Apple quietly launched the new iPod Touch in mid-July and some of its features are at par or even better than the iPhone 5s. Many users would be tempted to buy the latest device that Apple claims is the "best iPod Touch yet." Let us see what the 2015 iPod Touch brings and what people are saying about the new gadget.

The new-generation iPod Touch is powered by the A8 processor, the same used in the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The 2015 iPod Touch is also equipped with the same camera as in the iPhone 6; however, there are some slight differences in the images taken by the iPod Touch and the iPhone 6.

The new iPod Touch definitely has enhanced specs and features when compared to its predecessor and it may attract many customers with its starting price tag of $199.

Here are some reviews of the 2015 iPod Touch:

Matthew Panzarino of TechCrunch: "The shaping and refining of the iPod touch over the last couple of years has spelled out what Apple feels the iPod is still great for. It's no longer just a music player; it's a gaming platform and a camera. There's a case to be made that the iPod touch could be positioned as a standalone camera, much in the way that the original iPod was positioned as a media player."

Michael Hession of Gizmodo: "The difference isn't huge, but it's there. It reminds me of the difference I saw when upgrading to iPhone 6 from an iPhone 5s. Even though you'll see the same resolution as Apple's flagship phones, you won't necessarily see the same level of image quality."

Christina Warren of Mashable: "It's a good device, and I would argue it's the most competitive iPod touch since the second-generation version was released back in 2008. It's just that being the best iPod ever doesn't necessarily matter if you already have an iPhone."

Sascha Segan of PCMag: "There's nothing like the touch if you want a handheld media player that doesn't require a phone subscription. This is the most power-per-dollar you can get in a truly handheld form factor, and it runs gorgeous games, high-quality media apps, and even Microsoft Office. It's great for kids and for anyone else who wants iOS apps without investing in an iPhone."

Andrew Cunningham of Ars Technica: "The iPod Touch is a no brainer because it has very little competition. For the same or a slightly lesser price, you could buy an unlocked Android phone like the Moto E or G and just use it on Wi-Fi without a contract. But Apple is giving you much slicker hardware, faster updates, and a near top-end SoC. None of those budget phones can promise any of that."

Customers who own an iPhone may not be attracted to buy the 2015 iPod Touch. However, customers who do not want telephone connectivity and are just looking to listen to music, play games, watch videos, and use the device as a camera may purchase the 2015 iPod Touch.
