There's a Baywatch movie in the works, and we've known about this since 2014. However, it was only recently that the film found its director in Seth Gordon.

The new Baywatch movie, while just landing its director, had already claimed Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the lead character. No one is certain what the movie will be about outside of ladies in bikinis and men with their shirts off all running in slow motion.

What we are also not certain about is whether Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff have been approached to become part of the cast.

When it comes down to the script, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift were brought along to pen it. We understand it is not yet complete, so there's a chance filming might not begin until 2016.

The TV series aired first back in 1989 and ended in the 1990s. It was very popular, although some might say this had a lot to do with the cast and how they dressed on set.

The main characters were all lifeguards, and as such, they are required to dress in revealing attire. This type of dress code attracted both men and women, but it doesn't mean how the characters usually dress is the main reason why the show was successful.

Do we need a Baywatch movie?

Probably not. We're not sure how well Baywatch would work on the big screen unless the writers and director agree to make it far more than what the TV show was about. A Baywatch movie should be centered on saving people, so how about adding a huge storm or hurricane where several folks are trapped at sea?

It could be a thriller with one or more central villains, or maybe they could make it about alien sea creatures who are hell-bent on taking over Earth's oceans for themselves. OK, we're getting ahead of ourselves here a little bit.

Would you go out to watch a Baywatch movie with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the leading man?
