The upcoming iPhone 6s will very likely not look different from the iPhone 6, as the latest image leaked to the Internet shows.

The image was obtained by GSM Arena from ITSKINS, a manufacturer of iPhone cases and covers who provided an image render of the upcoming Apple smartphone.

Confirming earlier an earlier leaked image, not much will change when it comes to the appearance of the iPhone 6s, which isn't surprising at all, since the S versions of earlier iPhones do not look any different from their predecessors as well.

The iPhone 6s appears to have the power/lock button on the same right side of the device. On the back, we see the iSight camera's sensor on the upper left corner, with the flash positioned on top of it.

There are, however, some very minor physical changes that point towards bigger internal changes. As reported by Engadget Japan, purported iPhone 6s schematics leaked by a Chinese supply-side source show the iPhone 6s will be ever so slightly thicker than the iPhone 6. According to the source, the new iPhone will have a profile thicker by 2mm, a difference that will not be significantly noticeable to many users.

The increase in thickness is attributed to Apple's rumored incorporation of Force Touch into the new iPhone's display. Force Touch, which lets the device distinguish between different kinds of touches, is available in the Apple Watch and the new MacBooks, but no iPhone still offers the new feature. New features that could be enabled by Force Touch include contextual menus and skipping through a music player faster by holding down the fast-forward button.

The additional 2mm thickness could also point to rumors that Apple is switching to 7000-series aircraft-grade aluminum for the iPhone 6s case, a move that could be in response to earlier complaints that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were permanently bending when pressure is applied on them inside people's pockets.

The iPhone 6s is expected for an official unveiling in September along with its phablet counterpart, the iPhone 6s Plus. It is rumored to sport a 12 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera and 2 GB of RAM. It will also reportedly come out with iOS 9 out of the box.
