Once upon a time, Mad Max director George Miller was set to bring the Justice League to the big screen. That obviously never happened, but Miller may get his chance to direct a film based on DC Comics' greatest superhero if a new rumor turns out to be true.

The rumor comes from director Jon Schnepp, who recently released the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? The film explores the canceled Superman Lives film from director Tim Burton and starring Nicholas Cage, diving into what the film would have been about and why it never saw the light of day.

In a recent of episode of Popcorn Talk (via Comicbook.com) Schnepp briefly talks about another Superman film: Man of Steel 2. He says with confidence during the episode that Miller will be the one to direct the sequel to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, the building block upon which DC's cinematic universe is being built. Though Schnepp doesn't elaborate further or explain where he heard such a rumor, it does make sense on paper. You can hear Schnepp's words for yourself at the bottom of this post.

Miller is obviously familiar with DC Comics and the Justice League after having nearly directed a Justice League movie himself. After the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is set to introduce numerous new superheroes and villains, having a director that understands DC's super-team will be essential.

There is also the fact that Miller is on good terms with DC movie partner Warner Bros. after the massive success of Mad Max: Fury Road this summer. He seems like just the man for the job, especially considering that Zack Snyder will have his hands full with DC's second attempt at a Justice League film.

This is all unconfirmed for the moment, but it certainly feels like it could happen. Perhaps we will hear an official announcement soon. In the meantime, you can read more about Miller's canceled Justice League film here.
