PlayStation nation got a big surprise last month when Sony announced that it would allow PlayStation Plus members to vote for one of September's free games. Now the votes are tallied and the verdict is in, so which game beat out the competition?

It looks like Grow Home on PlayStation 4 has become the first user-selected free PlayStation Plus game. Players will take on the role of a Botanical Utility Droid traveling the stars in search of new plant life for his home planet, controlling and growing a giant plant on a journey through the stars. It received positive reviews upon release, so it should be a welcome addition to any gamer's library.

If you didn't want Grow Home to win, not to worry. The two other games fans could vote on, Armello and Zombie Vikings, will both be discounted by 30 percent for PlayStation Plus members from Sept. 1-15.

Grow Home isn't the only free game coming to PS Plus members, either. PlayStation 4 gamers can also snag the excellent Super Time Force for free, a sidescrolling shooter/platformer with a quirky sense of humor that requires players to abuse time in order to emerge victorious.

On the PlayStation 3 side of PS Plus, gamers can download Twisted Metal and Teslagrad. If you've yet to try Sony's classic car-combat franchise featuring everybody's favorite demented clown, you are in for a treat with Twisted Metal. Teslagrad is on the polar opposite end of the specturm, in which gamers will put their platforming and puzzle solving skills to the test.

PlayStation gamers on the go haven't been left out either. Xeodrifter and La Mulana EX bring two vastly different experiences to the PlayStation Vita owners.

All in all, that's four free games for PS4 owners, two for PS3 owners and two for PS Vita owners. You'll be able to download these free games starting on Sept. 1.
